Join the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Research for Health the Global Research Agenda on Knowledge Translation and Evidence-informed Policy-making on Thursday, 15 May 2025. This virtual event will celebrate two years of collaborative efforts between WHO and a diverse group of 130 experts from academia, civil society, government institutions, United Nations agencies, and other international organizations, representing over 40 countries across all WHO regions.
The launch will present the final set of research priorities identified through this extensive and participatory process, and outline the next steps for implementing the research agenda. Bridging the gap between evidence and policy in health and other social sectors is critical, especially in a world of rising misinformation and declining public trust. Knowledge Translation (KT) research, which explores how best to promote research uptake in policy-making, plays a crucial role in advancing evidence-informed policy-making. However, global KT research efforts remain fragmented, leading to duplication in some areas and neglect in others. This lack of coordination, compounded by inconsistent fundings, hinders the development of a cohesive and effective ecosystem.
In response, WHO has led a global effort since 2023 to define research priorities and establish a shared research agenda. Coordinated by WHO’s Evidence to Policy and Impact Unit, this effort engaged a wide range of interest holders through a series of participatory reviews and technical consultations, resulting in a consolidated and validated list of global research priorities.
